BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Built in 1950, Shenyang Railway Mechanic College (hereinafter called SRMC), located in Shenyang City, the capital of Liaoning Province. P. R.C., is a nation key secondary professional school with many honors granted by province and nation, which focuses on mechanic technology ,contains a number of 5000 registered students plus another number of 3000 trainees at campus per year and it consists of a number of 302 permanent working staff ,182 of whom are teachers with 23 of them being master-degree holders, 80% of the teachers are holding senior or medium -level professional titles, 67.2% of them have both the professional titles and professional skills certificates.

SRMC covers a floor space of 100,000 square meters with 62,000 square meters building areas which are taken up by 3 classroom buildings, 5 students dormitories, over 4000-square -meter lab building, a library building with 200,000 books, a comprehensive electrical operated building with some lecture halls, a phonetic lab and a broadcasting studio in it, which are all equipped with closed circuit TV system and multi-media devices, a gymnasium with modern sports facilities, a playground with international standard 400 -meter tracks covered with plastic rubber , a roller skating ground and a tennis court as well.

SRMC offers 17 different main specialties, 5 of which are provincial leading models including numerical–controlled technology application, machine processing technology, mechanic-electrical-controlled technology application, computer science and its application, technology on electrical -engine locomotives and locomotives’ maintenance, the rest of which are machinery technology , mechanic-electronic controlling technology , information technology, management of goods stock and supply, railway technology and some other relating specialties.

For many years, SRMC has been importing advanced international educational formats from foreign countries on fostering students professional skills through which it has adopted the credit system on students’ courses, in which curriculum are divided into both professional courses and basic courses, moreover the above-two courses are further separated into the elective courses, the required courses and some other on-spot training courses. Now SRMC has developed 46 practicing and training bases inside the campus and outside the campus plus 6 professional skills appraisal offices.

SRMC is always operating in the guideline of meeting the requirement of students’ employment after graduation and enhance the trainees technical abilities, in the aim of obtaining the nation-level model college, in order to deepen its educational reform and develop its credit system to increase the students’ overall quality. Therefore, its students are well welcomed by the society and the college is enjoying a good social image and high reputation.
